2 weeks ago i bought a 1996 BMW 316 coupe which has a Kenwood CD
player. When the engine started up the face plate would retract and
you could use the CD. The car has been parked for since it was bough
but today i have noticed that the plate does not retract anymore so
the CD player/tuner cannot be used. I have spoken to the previous
owner and he suggested that this was a security feature and all that
needs to be done was to press one of the corners of the plate very
hard and it would open. I've tried this with no success and was
wondering if there was something else i could try. All the previous
owner can remember is that the player is a Kenwood KDC(something). It
also has what i presume is a small press buttoned remote control.
