I am buying subs for my car. I have 2 10" Alpine Type R's on order.
I plan on putting them in a sealed box. I also would like to cut a
hole in the back of my car between the 6x9's (I have a 97 Sebring
LXi), and put a 8" freeair midbass sub. Is there anything out there
besides the Kicker Resolution for this?

Also, with my 10" Alpines, I have 8 gauge cable going to the back of
my car to run my 800 watt max Lanzar (no way is it putting out 800
watts, but it sounds good for powering my 6.5"s and my 6x9s), could I
be fine with a 1.2 farad cap, with power for the amps. I plan on
using a 1000 watt Sony Xplod amp to power them. I really do not want
to run more cable as it is run under my car. Will the cap be enough?

The cap will do nothing for you... you need to run 4 guage to push 2 amps
like that.

Caps dont do anything. they are as trivial as neon lights.

Cap. does help. I have a 500 RMS mono. amp. powering 12"JLW6. Without the
cap. my amp shuts down automatially (amp. safety feature kicks in when it's
underpowered) whenever deep bass comes thro. However, adding 1 Farad cap.
solves the problem. Cap. DOES HELP in my case!!

By the way, Bryan, don't look at how much watt Max. it's useless. Look at
the RMS value to match your speakers/sub. Sony Xplod XM-D400P5 is 800W
Max. but it's only 200W RMS. this sucks. However, Sony XM-D1000P5 has 500W
RMS (1600 W max) <-- this one is good ****.

Cap is band-aid in your case, same as it is in all other cases.

It only sucks if you need more then 200W so you buy the amp because you
think you are getting more then 200W

This is not good ... it sucks just as bad as the D400P5, if someone buys
this because they think they are getting more then 500W they are still out
of luck, same as they were with the 200W from the D400P5

I wouldn't do that ... you are using the trunk to house the 2 10" right? If
the 8" is trying to use the trunk for IB (infinite baffle = free air) the
10" will interfere.

I wouldn't use a cap, and you should not run the wire under the car ... why
are you doing that btw? If you want to experiment ... try running everything
off of the 8 gauge and measure the voltage at the amps when running the
system hard, if it drops below 12.5V while the car is running upgrade the
cable.
