View Full Version : Neon install in boot

I have the latest Renault Clio and I was wondering if anyone could tell me
how to install some neons in my boot. I have a small light in the boot of
my car that switches on when my boot is opened. I took a normal set of
neons and cut off the cigarette adapter to leave bare wires which I then
usd to connect to the small light in my boot. It then blew my neons so can
anyone tell me how I can actually install the neons in my boot? Can I just
put a resistor or something like that and connect it up to that light? Any
help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

I find that the wiring that goes into the cigarette lighter adapter in most
'plug-in' neon kits has the wiring colors/stripes/etc. reversed from what
we'd normally use. (ie. striped positive, red ground, etc)

Once the lighter plug is cut off, test the plug with a meter to find which
wire is which.

The light in the vehicle should be a fine source for power to the neon, if
indeed you just cut off the plug. You CANNOT eliminate the on/off/flash box,
due to it containing the transformer for the neon tube(s)...

Hope this info helps,

David
