Can anyone offer any suggestions on how to record more than 80 minutes
(86 to be exact) onto a CD? Is it possible?
I "think" I could record it onto a DVD+R but then I could only play it
on a DVD player, which is not what I want.
Is it possible to put more than 80 minutes of music on a CD-R?

Not reliably, that's for sure. I'm not even sure if it's possible at all.

Format it as an mp3 disk is about the only way. But then only
certain players will play it.
Any chance you can edit 6 minutes out of that thing? Or time shift
it to compress it to 80 minutes?

Yes. You can buy 90 minute CDRs lots of places. In order to do that,
the manufacturer goes outside the official limits of the CDR standard,
which means that there is no guarantee than any particular CD player
will play it.
I've made a lot of these CDRs, and I haven't run into a single
instance of failure, but I advise testing it on several players before
settling on a disc brand.
