looking for new speaker recommendations

thanks to a joyous windfall, I may be able to replace my old Sony
speakers (SSC40's and 45's)They weren't much then, about $200 cdn a pair
so I know I'll have to spend a bit more to get something decent. I also
have a sub and a celestion center channel and I live in a Condo, so my
power handling needs aren't that big. I'm hoping for something around
$1000 cdn for the fronts and backs. btw, the old ones were 3 way
speakers (didn't know which of them worked well) and were rated at 40 w
per-- and me with a 500 watt reciever !
