Sorry, it must be some other ailment

I would argue that Howard is oblivious, not overly sensitive.

What about the voices in his head? He certainly does appear to be sensitive to
and responding to internal stimuli. Very reminiscent of Don Quixote's
"Impossible Dreams".

I'm not sure if it mentions it on this particular website, but people with
Asperger's Syndrome often do very well with academic careers and often wind up
being teachers and researchers and, well, library clerks. They also abhor
change, and their world generally falls apart if things get mixed around.

Kind of reminds you of why Howard says he didn't finish his Ph.D, eh?
