Don't.
For starters, a mercury vapour rectifier has to warm up its filament
well before switching on the HV, or it'll blow.
When cold, the liquid mercury acts as a short circuit.
Second, they're noisy as hell.
Voltage drop is low, about 10...15 Volts.

The 83 is for wimps. When I was in my vacuum tube phase, I used a pair of
866's. My favorite lrge output tubes were 211s and 304TLs.

Is your name Sander? I didn't think so.

Delusional belief that an 83 or 866 was capable of 11 KV operation noted.
The maximum PIV for the 866 was only about 10 KV, so operation with more
than a few KV AC applied would be inadvisable.

Actually, if it hadn't been for *your* big mouth, there would have
never been an issue, now would there? Nobody would have known about

How? By bringing up the tragedy out of the blue again for your own
"point-scoring" purposes? Shame on you.
I hope that you're feeling good about yourself today. Frankly, I think

Not necessarily. RAO trolls have a track record for finding out about deaths
related to regular posters, by searching searching online newspaper
listeings. My son's death could be found in at least three such online
listings maintained by local newspapers. Then, some of his classmates put up
a web site dedicated to his memory. All 3 mentioned his parents by name.

Color me naive, but do you really think "RAO trolls" are scanning
online death listings every day to haunt other people with it in
newsgroups?
I wasn't reading RAO at the time it happened, but I've seen it
mentioned that you posted the decease of your son here yourself.
That in itself shouldn't be a reason for others to make use of it
though.
But in this thread, no other poster but yourself brought up the
subject of your son.
If people in RAO did to me what they did to you regarding a deceased
family member, I'd be disgusted and leave the place forever.
There must be better and stronger words than disgusted, but I can't
think of any at the moment.
I mentioned the chronical illness of my wife several times in this
newsgroup.
I've not seen any bad jokes about that.
If she would die, I'd probably not mention this on RAO though, knowing
what happened to you.
OTOH, that would have such impact on me that I probably couldn't keep
my mouth shut about it.
I may disagree with you, I may not like your online personae, I may
poke fun at you and mock you, but never on the subject of your late
son.
I have no kids, so I can't imagine what it must be like to lose
someone you raised and love so much.
I can only imagine (and even that isn't really true since it hasn't
happened yet) what it would be like to lose my wife though.
No one deserves what happened to you.
This is an example of where my borders of decency are crossed like I
mentioned before.
I hereby ask all RAO posters to stop bringing up the subject of your
late son again.
Please show at least respect for Nate and let him rest in peace.

Gosh, does this mean that Devil has finally become bored with exploting my
son's death against me? After only about 5 years?
Of course all that lousy excuse for a human being that posts as Devil need
do, is invent a new sockpuppet and use the sockpuppet to carry on Devil's
vendetta against me, under a different name. For example Devil might start
posting as Kevin, or Margaret, or Jamie...
Oh, I forgot, those sockpuppet's names are already taken!
What was I thinking?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by this.
If you mean he kept posting to Usenet and seemed unaffected by the
event, maybe that's just the way some people act to get their life
back together.
I don't know, like I said I wasn't around RAO at that time.
>Arnii deserves everything, *everything*, he gets.
I don't know exactly what has happened between you and Arny, and of
course you and anyone else must make his own decision in this.
I also noticed that Arny himself sometimes mentions his son's death
for apparently no reason. That's up to him. It would be better if he
didn't, and I can't understand it either.
But in my view, regardless what Arny says, he doesn't deserve to be
haunted with accusations about perversions regarding his deceased
son. That's just beyond a certain decency border to me.
That's the reason I asked. And the plea goes for Arny as well.

Of course you have the right to mention anything you like, but like I
noticed in this thread, it was you who brought up the subject, not
Devil. From there, you have seen that things have escalated again.
FWIW, I'm not engaging in attacks like that, nor am I endorsing them.
However, if I remain silent when it happens, don't automatically
assume I approve of what's happening. I'm not, and I've said so
explicitly in this thread.
I think I've made my viewpoints clear now.
Audio fights are enough for me.

Krueger, your delusional beliefs are incurable. Gratuitous, unprovoked
personal insult and projection of Krueger's problems noted.

Not I.
But I am more interested in why Newark or spc technologies would be so
silly as to omit specifying the plating on an rca phono jack. Oh well,
radio shack does color code the little plastic core which is useful so I
guess their good for something.
I want you to know I ordered the biggest fattest natural aluminum knob for
my pot I could find because I like to polish my knob.

This doesn't have anything to do with Mrs. K, does it?

Speaking of Freud, how's that penis envy coming, dave? ;-)

Well, there ya go. How many people will use their families as weapons?
Especially deceased ones?
If it were anyone other than Arnold, I'd say that this is tragic.

It's just a matter of timing.
BTW Sander brought it up again, so here's my licence back.
When I say drop it permanently, I mean permanently and NOW!

You first. You quit bringing it up and I'll bet it never gets
mentioned ever again.
You can't though. It's part of your strategy.

That's up to him. I won't let Arny or anyone else determine what to
say or how to act on this newsgroup.
In the end, I'll have only to answer to myself if I didn't cross my
own borders of decency.

??? I brought it up?
If so, it was to express my thoughts about the matter.
If you go back up the thread you'll see I actually asked of everyone
to drop it.
>When I say drop it permanently, I mean permanently and NOW!
Done. This will be my last word regarding this.
