I'm trying to use Total Recorder to record something directly from a song
played in Cakewalk (Pro 9) but for some reason it won't work. If I just
play an Mp3 or Wav file through Winamp then Total Recorder will work no
problems but it doesn't seem to recognize any sound via Cakewalk.
Could anyone please tell me if Total Recorder is just not compatible with
recording from Cakewalk or do I need to change some settings within either
program or something?
Thanks.

Hi there!

I donīt really know ProAudio9, only Sonar 2.2, so please donīt mind if I
suggest something wrong...

Canīt you just do a mixdown (in Sonar 2.2 itīs called "Export -> Audio")
within ProAudio9 ??? In my eyes this would be the better way rather than
recording with an external program.
If that doesnīt solve your problem, have you tried other programs like
Audacity or Goldwave, to name just 2 cheap/free, for recording? maybe that
could help - even though it sounds rather like a routing problem.

Good luck anyway,

Phil

Well, first of all total recorder will not record midi, audio only,
so, if you are trying to play the midi dile and then record it using
"total recorder" it will not work. Also, since in cakewalk you can
choose the output audio drivers, make sure you choose the total
recorder driver.
All the best.

Igor.

This may be a silly question, but is your soundcard full-duplex ... meaning it
can record at the same time it is playing? Most older soundcard cannot pay and
record so you would have to get rid of it for something newer. My SoundBlaster
mp3 Live is full-duplex and (probably 3 years old), and plays and records
without any problems.
