Hi
I have a Kenwood KDC-M4524G head unit. It's supposed to be CD-RW
compatable but I'm finding that my CD-RW MP3 CDs are skipping quite a
lot (i.e. on maybe 1/2 the tracks).
MP3s on CD-Rs work fine, it's only a problem with rewritables.
Can anyone recommend a brand of CD-RW that works well with this head
unit?

Im curious....why do you want to use CD-RW for MP3
files? Or anything for that matter now days?
Why not use CDR for everything?

what strange is CDR-W's will usually be more forgiving as far as the laser
goes, due to their Silver surface. usually its the oposite, if it dont like
CD-R's try CD-RW's......

Because I already have all my mp3s on CDR, but it's nice to quickly
copy a compilation of albums from one CDR onto a CDRW for a particular
car-trip.
It's also good if I want to listen to a song I am writing while in the
car, just to see how it sounds.
Sometimes I have an album on my computer that I want to listen to but
not enough mb to warrant using a CDR.

OK..... was just curious
Ive given up on using CDRW cause the CDR are so cheap
now that even if I only use the CDR once or twice or
even discard it.... Im not out any real money.
I just don't see any real need to use CDRW anymore...
even for "temporary" compilations

Just to answer your question try burning a song at a lower burn speed maybe
1x, 2x, or at a max 4x. This should help it quite a bit.

I've had a Kenwood Z828 for a couple of years, and while I had no
problems with CDRWs at the beginning, later on, I noticed a problem
with CDRWs skipping, as well; especially after the 2nd and 3rd
rewrites. I eventually narrowed the problem down to media; I was
using 650MB (74 Min) CDRWs in the beginning, but later on, I switched
to 700MB (80 Min) CDRWs. I switched back to 74s, and the problem went
away.
Apparently, the deck has problems reading the tighter spiral on an 80
Min CDRW, even though it reads 80 Min CDRs just fine.
For the record, I was using Verbatim and Memorex 74 Min CDRWs to
start, then Memorex 80 Min CDRW (problems started), and now I'm using
TDK 74 Min CDRWs.
