Is it possible to get good sound from component speakers mounted in the
factory door locations? (in this case a 1986 honda crx)
Everyone seems to recommend kick panels, but I would like to avoid that for
2 reasons, the cost, and the lack of space in my car.
Speakers I'm considering are:
Diamond Audio M651
Focal 136K (mount depth might be too deep)
Infinity Perfect 5.1
or anything you guys can recommend for $200-300?
They will be powered by A/B channels from a Sony ES XM-7547 (75x4), with
C/D channels bridged to run a sub.

no problem, sometimes the doors even sound better than the kickpanels!

I agree... Choose directional speakers (with lower off axis output) and
it may surprise you.
IMHO this was one of the Secrets with Todd Matsubara's old 85'
accord... Directional midranges mounted high up on the doors and kick
panel tweeters cross fired for imaging.
