I have a pair of old Infinty Kappa speakers that I left in the box for years
and then used for only about three months. What hapopened was the foam
surrounds disintegrated due to their age. Is there a cheap, cost-effective
way of repairing them? The foam is not just damaged in one place; it is
basically totally degraded. Other than that, they are perfectly decent
speakers and I have a use for them if I can fix them. Anyone got any ideas?

Dan,
There are many professional speaker shops that will refoam speakers for
reasonable prices. Most, if not all, of them would probably sell you a
refoaming kit also if you're brave enough to attempt it yourself. From
what I hear, the professional refoaming does a decent job and they hold
up pretty well after that and sound as good as new. However, if you've
had these speakers in a damp place you should also check to make sure
your cones are okay and not starting to rot, and the wires to your
coils are in good shape, before you send them off.

Here are links to web sites of some shops that do the refoaming:

This article also lists contacts to some of those same shops.

Good luck!
