I was thinking about adding some decent 4x6s to the dash of my 97 Sonoma
Extended Cab, any recomendations?
Would I be better off with a set 4" and a tweeter??? any recomendations???

Be careful if you decide to try plate speakers in a GM 4x6 location... Most
vehicles have provisions for the magnet IN THE MIDDLE of the hole, not
off-center.
You could put 4' speakers in the hole for the 4x6, but make sure that you
fill the left-over hole with an ABS baffle of the bass response (as IF 4"
speakers had any!) will suffer.

pretty well any quality 4x6 coaxial will work. plate systems tend to be of
better quality, but to davids point, sometimes the magnet of the woofer
being off to the side is a pain.
have been there and done that...sometimes pushing whats in the way "out of
the way" can help. on full size trucks, its an airvent on one side and
thick body insulation on the other....take a peek!
