A few weeks ago out of the blue my FM reception would no longer work. AM
reception worked fine and it just seemed as if the antenna became
disconnected. So today I pulled the receiver out and inspected the antenna
wire and it was plugged in all the way. I did pull it out and then plug it
back in and still no FM reception. Anyone else have this sort of problem or
have any ideas on where to look next? I want to make sure I have tried
everything before I buy an aftermarket unit. Thanks.
Tom

AM would be the first to go if the antenna was a problem.
So it has to be the radio because AM is working.

ok thanks. just out of curiosity, why would the AM go first if it was the
antenna? I thought FM was more sensitive to the needs of an antenna.
Thanks,
Tom

Backwards, AM requires a good antenna, FM will work
with any wire. (sometimes even without one)

That is a VERY common problem on those radios. Mitsubishi made that radio
and used an low quality FM tuner that utilizes ultra cheap
printed-on-the-board ICs in FM tuner & they go out reguarly. The AM tuner is
seperate & better quality, so it rarely goes out. There is an updated tuner
with normal ICs for that radio. I have a few in stock.

I have never seen one of those tuners back after
repairing it, that leads me to belive it was an assembly
problem and not a poor design choice by Mitsubishi.
I can not say the same about Acustars tuner choice.
