Basically I don't know the first thing about car audio. All I know is
what sounds good and what doesn't. My current stock system doesn't
sound good so I want to upgrade. I have about $3000 to spend and I
want to a complete system: head unit, speakers, subwoofers and amps.
I'm not concerned with brand so long as it's not some cheap off-brand,
and while how loud the system can be is not as important to me as how
crisp, clear and basically good it sounds, I would still like it to
bump pretty good.
I would appreciate any and all suggestions, but remember I have $3000
for everything, so please don't recommend a $2000 hed unit or anything
like that. Thanks.

I live in San Diego, Ca and the 2 stores closest to me have been no
help, so if someone in the area can reommend a place that I will
actually get the help I need, I would really appreciate it. Thanks for
the advice Les.

Ping a guy on here named Paul, he is from Cali and might know, If you ever get
to Texas let me know and I will hook you up with a good shop here.
But if you want a system I would install then tell me the car you drive, what
music you listen too, etc. And I will tell you what I would put in, but almost
everyone is different so you can just take alot of different suggestions.

Ok, You have SO many choices and I will assume that you will have it installed.
In that case I would keep gear cost around $1500-$2000 and leave the rest for
install.
For a basic install I would get a set of components up front, Coax's to replace
the rear speakers, A 4 channel amp, a Mono sub amp and one or two 12s.
Get a good solid HU with capabilities for future upgrades, Pioneer is my
preference, but there are tons of Manufactures.
If you want specific gear then just ask.
2 brands I do not think you will probably like is MB Quart of Boston Acoustics,
both have the reputation for being bright and you seem to not like the bright
sound. But hey you never know, just my thoughts.
