I dont have personal experience with this amp, but IMHO it doesn't sound
like too difficult of a repair.

Is it a standard off the shelf PCB / wave soldered switch? Is it a
standard SPST or DPDT? Does it have a standard footprint and pin array?

If it is an off the shelf component, parts express or radio hack might
have a replacement. Should be around 5-6 bucks at the most.

If it is a PCB mounted switch, you can use a heat gun (smaller variety)
and unsolder it from the board. Use a solder vac to clear out the PCB
holes. Once the holes are clear of solder, gently press the new switch
into the board and re-flow solder up into the pins. Use caution and
make sure the switch is fully seated to the PCB while re-flowing the
solder, otherwise the switch wont line up to the sheetmetal cut out.

Good Luck,
Garrett

Hello,

I have a PPI amp (PCX 440) which I seem to have broken a switch off of (just
the plastic piece)? Not sure how it happened since I am careful with it,
but needless to say, it's broken. I called PPI and they were 100% USELESS!
They wanted to sell me a refurbished amp or charge me $125 to fix it! All
I need is the switch and I can solder it back on! Since I broke the switch
off, It is not covered under warranty...

Does anyone know where I can find one of these switches and why PPI is being
so stingy??? I bought 3 of their amps because I though they were good?
