In theory, by using the USB output to transfer a recording from your
MiniDisk to the computer, you're bypassing a digital/analog conversion
in the Minidisk plus an analog/digital conversion in the computer.
That should be a good thing.
However in practice, most MiniDisk recorders don't allow you to
transfer an origianl recording made on the recorder to the computer
using the USB port. Some older ones do, but not new ones, other than
the newest new one that isn't relased yet (maybe).
Also, given the likely quality of the original recording and the lossy
compression built into the MiniDisk format, chances are you'll get
perfectly acceptable results if you just connect the audio output to
the audio input. Just be sure to use the meters in your computer
recording application to set the record level properly so it's not too
low and you don't have overloading on peaks.
