Does Soundboard give off a foul chemical smell after it's been up awhile?

I read in an old newsgroup post (5/25/2001, rec.audio.pro) that Soundboard
made by Celetex (distributed by Weyerhaeuser) did this and I thought I'd
check to see if anyone knew if this problem still exists.

i have installed several allen and heath consoles that have an
electrical burning smell.when i asked the manufacturer they said that
they had switched one transformer and further investigation discovered
that the new transformer had a coating on it that was giving off the
smell.performance was not afected.it just smelled and keeps you on
your toes looking for burned up stuff. i hope this helps. garf cooper

Burning or burnt capacitors smell quite rank.
