Hi, Can someone give me a little advice, I just bought a podxt and am
looking for a good combo to use with it. Has anyone good advice on an
amp model (& power) that works well with it. I have about $450 to
spend and want to get the best combination possible. I will use it for
gigging & practice.
thanks

The Pod is fun, but if you critically compare it so other options you might
find that it is lacking in tone. By way of comparison go to
http://www.tech21nyc.com/ , and under the "sounds" menu listen to the
"Trademark 10" mp3 samples. It's a 10 watt 100% analog amp that you can get
for $199 at www.mainstreetmusicshop.com/ , it has a great direct out sound.
The "Trademark 30" is the same amp in a 30 watt version that Tech21 is selling
direct for $350, that's a better size for gigging.

Just to echo Will's comment... I picked up the Trademark 60 a while
back. I was just playing different amplifiers at the old local music
store, and I plugged into this thing. It was just plain cool. It isn't
that it sounds exactly like a Fender or a Marshall, it doesn't! But it
has that character, almost characature sound for each, and it is a ton
of fun to play. It is also remarkably responsive. Finally, I find it
makes a great "direct box" in the studio... the sound I end up capturing
is pretty close to what I am hearing. It doesn't do anything for
isolation, if that's what you need the Pod is a better choice, but if
you can stand to have the amplifier working, it does a nice job.
I've not gigged with it, but I imagine it would do a good job in a small
club.

I have been reading that lot of guys who don't like the Trademark 60 do
like the 10 and 30, which have the same preamp section. The Trademark 60 from
what I have read recently has a different preamp section. The mp3 clips on
the tech21nyc.com website are a great way to make a comparison.
