Among the things I want to do with my new powerbook is use it as a
sampler. I use to own an Akai S5000 but I sold it because I thought
this would make more sense, 'cause I also want to do some graphic
design and film editing and email, etc.
So I am trying to get started and am already a bit frustrated.
Digi002 and Protools is easy enough to use. But the Mach 5 manual
BEGINS cryptically. This has always been my experience with MOTU: bad
manuals. (Although they are LONG and EXHAUSTIVE, it is difficult to
extract basic information from them.)
Can anyone give me a step-by-step guide to the following VERY BASIC
task?
1. Get Mach 5, which runs as a plug-in within Protools, to respond to
my MIDI keyboard (hooked into the MIDI inport of the DIGI 002).
2. Record a sound. (I presume I can grab any piece of audio that I
have recorded into a Protools, right?)
3. Play it back at varying pitches and velocities. You know, uh,
like a SAMPLER.
I just need to use it VERY BASICALLY right now. Nothing fancy. I
want to use it now like you could use any CASIO sampler you'd find at
Radioshack, y'know? I'll get fancy later.
Please help! Zap me an email and alleviate my headache.
