I wanna convert my sample library to EXS24 format. I was using an
MPC3000 and an EMU ESI4000. CDextract says it will work with both
formats and here is the key, the sounds are on 5 1/4" Syquest carts and
Zip 250 carts. Again CDextract says it will read the syquest and zip
disks, but all my info on chickensys just says CD-ROMS....Anyone ever do
this? Will it be a simple no nonsense conversion?

I used CDExtract to convert AIFF to SF2 and it didn't care if the AIFF
was first copied to my HD. So I doubt it will care about the media
it's stored on and it only cares about the file formats. Of course
you could email the guy and ask him just to make sure before you send
him your $$$. I like the program, very easy to use, quality results
for what I did. Hope this helps you decide.

Note for those looking into this thread: CDExtract appears to be a
Linux-only program, made by a programmer in Germany. You can get more info

i think what's being discussed is CDXtract. i used a demo version to
convert some akai s5/6k samples into Reason NN-XT patches and i think
it's a nice little program. easy to use. good conversion...i think
it's available for Mac and PC as well...
