I was doing my morning routine and saw that Digi finally released
6.2.2. I am glad however kind of upset that I formatted my workstation
last night and reinstalled 10.2.6. Oh well what are you going to do.
I'll be reinstalling 10.3.1 tonight i guess. I'll post a "holy crap i
lost everything" report tonight and let you all know what happens...
if anything... god i hope nothing happens.

Thanks Garrett! I'm still using 5.3.1 on OS 9.2.2. When you have say things
like "god I hope nothing happens" you have to realize you're a beta teater. I
hope it goes well for you too, and once I'm convinced that OSX and Pro Tools
are happily married, I'll switch over. But for now I'll leave it to you crazy
renegades to clear the way. Good luck and keep us posted!

Oh no, I know I'm a beta tester. I"ve been running 10.3 beta's for
about 6 months so i'm not REALLY that concerned about any big
problems. So far 10.3 has been pretty solid. Except I've been having
problems with airport and networking issues at work. Anyway, I think
it's a pretty solid OS and my track count and plugin's have been a lot
better already. I think OS X is going to be pretty impressive in the
next few years. 10.3 is definately a first step toward the real
consumer OS IMO. So far the install went pretty smooth. All new
installations seem to have issues. I remember when, I think iTunes 2
came out it started erasing mounted volumes. These things happen I
guess. And yes it's people like me that are willing to take these
chances I guess. But I'm off work for the next 9 days and don't have a
lot of people coming to record so what the heck I guess.

For anyone who's interested... I know Ty was having problems with this
a week ago or something like that, a few other I believe as well. I
haven't had any issues yet with the base installation and no extra
plug-ins. I know all the bomb factory plug-ins are supposed to be 10.3
compatible so will probably be installing those next. I really have to
say I feel as if my workstation feels a lot more solid. It's zippy. It
reminds me of using protools 5.1.1 on a 733 G4. There doesn't feel to
be any lag and the overall experience is much improved IMO. I haven't
had any issues with my Firewire drives yet. : :KNOCK KNOCK: : however
I'm not using the firewire 800 interfaces.

All in all a very smooth update with great benefits.

Installation performed on a Dual G4 500. 50 GB Seagate SCSI drive and
512 megs of RAM. The Dual processors really do feel happier in OS X. I
must admit I was skeptical.

FWIW, my ProTools pal called me up this morning elated. he installed
the New PT/Panther version and raved. he said also that the Rewire
worked right off without any latency on an 867 PowerBook and ported
right into PT.

....and on time, to boot.

now if DP can just get out of the woods.
