Good, maybe the emphasis will shift to talent and self promotion instead of
what sells, since nothing is selling anymore.
Without planned careers, and the money to fund marketing and ad saturation,
maybe music will be done by people who love music and are good at it instead
of assembly line produced drivel done for the express purpose of making
record company execs rich and building 10 million dollar studios.
This will clear the way for the people with actual talent again and give
them room on the airwaves to at least get on the radio locally.
I am kind of glad the machine is falling apart. Artistically the music fell
apart (in large part) by 1972. Recording is going to be all about self
promotion for live shows, talent, and love of the art. It should have never
been an "industry" to begin with.
