View Full Version : Why doesn't BLUE microphone answer their email?

I asked them a question weeks ago no answer next thing I see with just
as much mystery on an unrelated site(musician's friend)the mic in
question, the Bluebird. Now weeks before musician's friend ran an add
for a certain bundle then they erased it. The reason being they jumped
the gun because the offer was only for europe. Where's the regulation
with either the mic company or the store? Seems these companies need
to hire a proper staff and sell directly to consumer(a growing
movement).Either they do that or dont leak bogus info.

The Bluebird may be built by BLUE, but it's really a Digidesign
product. Ask them (and see how quickly they answer THEIR mail).

Hello,
We are very sorry you did not receive a quick and proper response from anyone
of us at Blue Microphones. We have spent the time to search our database and do
not have any copy of your email. If we had received it I assure you it would
have been answered. I have tried to email you from your address stated on this
post but it keeps bouncing back. I normally do not like to post responses
publicly as I feel a personal approach is much more required in situations such
as yours.
The Bluebird microphone you have inquired about is explained in detail in our
press release. You can view the PDF files at the URL addresses listed below.
The Bluebird will be shipping to the stores in early December. The first
effort in this area can be viewed at the second URL address listed below.
Digidesign distributes the Bluebird exclusively and they choose to bundle it
with their products they manufacture and distribute such as Mbox, 002 and
Focusrite.
If you have any questions pertaining to this mic or any other Blue related
product, I personally would be happy to give you a call. Please email me your
phone number and a good time to reach you.
Last but not least, to anyone reading this, I do wish I could handle each and
every question or email that comes through Blue but it would be impossible with
my workload. My time is spread much to thin these days as Blue is growing. We
have a talented staff of caring people at Blue who are willing to answer any
questions you may have. Please fee free to call the Blue offices and ask for
Eric Boyer our product relations manager he can steer you in the right
direction.
Kind Regards

My understanding (and this is based solely on a few magazine blurbs)
is that the BLUE Bluebird is a limited sales model that is ONLY
available as part of a Digidesign product bundle. In other words, you
can't buy a Bluebird. But if you go spend a few thousand on
miscellaneous Digidesign hardware, they might throw a Bluebird in your
bag on the way out of the store. I know, I thought it was weird, too.
But that seems to be the deal.
And regarding the email situation, I own a BLUE mic and have always
had fast, helpful responses to any emails I sent.

Hello Skipper,
This is to clarify that it seems that my email may have been lost
along the way and this is simply a misunderstanding. As I told Skipper
I have no wavered from wanting a BLUE mic or 2. I probably should have
directed my thoughts towards Musician's Friend and I apologize if this
was construed as an attack those were not my intentions. The shady
reference was pointed at Musician's Friend, that I will not retract. I
certainly plan on doing business with BLUE. I admire companies who
produce such interesting devices. I can only base this on looks and
from what I read. However I do think BLUE is a good choice for me.
They have several models I believe will do more than just the trick.

I sorta did Mike and Focusrite came right back to me. You're right
they are pretty quick but like I said above I'm afraid they didn't get
my mail which happens. My handle is unusual too and might get filtered
sometimes, just a theory.

Ya Steve,
I got that same info on the Harmony Central site. I just wasn't sure
if Musician's Friend was posting something way too much in advance. I
say again my intentions were not to slight BLUE. If it came out that
way my paragraph structure needs retooling. And for that I apologize.
It's not a bad concept though, matching mics to preamps in a bundle.
My finances just took a hit and I might have to explore other options.
I have a focusrite already and don't think it was bad.
Vocal/instrument performance is far more critical to me. It can be a
horror story if you buy a mic that doesn't suit your preamp.
I'll have to look into it.

The Internet has screwed up the whole PR cycle. Used to be that press
releases and ad copy (both for magazines and catalogs) were prepared
three months in advance because that was the typical publication
cycle. Now with instant delivery, sometimes things get announced quite
a bit ahead of time.

The Bluebird is a really neat mike, and it's probably BLUE's first
attempt at making a general-purpose microphone with a neutral sound,
so it's kind of different than the rest of the line.
But, because it's being sold in bundles with the Digidesign stuff, I
bet that you will start seeing them turning up used at good prices
(which does not normally happen with the BLUE mikes... the people who
buy them tend to want to keep them). Even if you can't buy one without
buying some Digidesign hardware, I bet you'll see them turning up
seperately on the used market.

Or maybe we'll be finding Digidesign stuff (probably Focusrite channel
strip thingies) showing up used without the bundled Blue mic.

Ya Mike,
That's certainly what happened here. My only concern was with so
little info if it was real or rather intended for the US market. As it
turned out it is. I can remember sports sites used to update their
stats say midweek after the Sunday football games. They now update no
more than a day. That's the official stats, the unofficial can almost
be instantaneous. "The times they're a changinnnnnn"

Possibly Scott,
Depends on the user I suppose. The target is for the "project studio"
market. I've seen maybe 3 bundles ranging from like $900-$1300(I
think). It looks like a baby bottle. I love the color. You gotta like
this company for making a video splash. From what I've read it's not
candycoating. Although no reviews of this microphone yet. Early
December they'll ship I guess.

No, because they have a little transmitter inside and if they're not
fairly close to their serial numbered PT host the app won't boot.

I can almost believe that.
