Once again I must defer to the electronic wizards who communicate
in this group. I bought an Mbox a few months ago but just got to
setting it up recently. The salesman boasted that I could record in
stereo with 2 mics with this device so for mainly this reason I forked
over the $$$. I also bought a pair of Oktava's for a fairly cheap
price. Anyway, the software <protools le> seems a lot more difficult
to grasp than say cooledit which I was recording and playing back
within minutes. <in mono> Anyway, after a fair amount of reading the
help secton i gave it a shot. I setup the input-output paths as
instructed, enabled the record and pressed record. The phantom power
button was definitely on btw. While recording the graph was plotting
along and the volume meter was going up and down. And yet when I go
to playback not a sound. The two mics are plugged directly into the
back of the device. <mbox> The only link to the computer itself is the
usb cord. Anybody know what Im missing here?

Thanks arch

Make sure the input/playback knob is fully clockwise during playback. Also, if
if monitor "input only" is selected, you won't hear any playback unitl you
have taken those tracks out of record enable.

Pro Tools is not that complicated. And the manual, while not the best, is not
terrible either.

Thanks to both of you for the pointers. I have had the playback in
the correct position but I'll have to see if the "input only" advice
is a factor.
