Never heard of it until I saw someone here post up that they considered it
to be in the same league with the RNC.
Any info would be appreciated.

I like them a lot. But try one and see, they are cheap enough to give it
a shot.

It's not even the same kind of box. It's a limiter, not a compressor.
And it's an interesting limiter. It's not neutral, but it can be a fun
sound. And it's cheap, or anyway it used to be.

But it has a 4:1 compression setting.

I have 3 of them. They are kinda cool. Balanced XLR or unbalanced1/4" I/O.
4:1 or infinty:1. Input/output controls attack and release.
They can work great for really squashing something (room mics, guitars) and
sometimes works well for other sources, but not the cleanest box I have heard.
If there is one around cheap pick it up.

It's still a VERY sharp knee, even when you set it there.

Don't know that I'd describe it as in the same league as the RNC...
first, it is strictly a limiter, and second, it definately colors the
sound... however, as a limiter it works pretty well, and I like the
color it imparts, so, well, hmmmm... same league?
That said, I have a pair I picked up years ago at a music flea market.
They ended up on the "to-do" shelf for a while, then I started messing
with the MXR Flangers from the same series, and they were so cool I dug
out the limiters.
I find that they work really well for just a bit of "protection" while
tracking... you know, the player is having a less than stellar day and
some notes/hits come out significantly louder than the rest, but you
don't want to disturb the dynamics (yet) so a little limiting to tame
the really loud peaks is just fine.
AND, they are kinda neat when set aggressively, it isn't a sound I've
heard other limiters make, but it can be quite cool. Again I usually do
this while tracking bass or drums (but not cymbals... what this thing
does to cymbals ought to be illegal).
At one point I decided they would be cool linked for stereo, and I tried
a couple of different schemes (summing, voting) but I never liked them
on a stereo track... perhaps because they were usually mixes? I don't
know. They still get used, but I've still not gotten around to mounting
them in a nice looking rack cabinet... that part is still on the to-do list!

I find that it handles low frequencies much better than the RNC.

I've been meaning to pick up a MXR mini limiter for years. My sick
love of inserting a MXR Dynacomp on a drum room mic channel is well
documented around here. Just a pinch of this twisted channel in the
drum buss gives some fun character.
A full dose makes you the Flaming Lips.
I didn't even know there was such a thing as a MXR Dual Limiter… I
tried a Google search but couldn't turn up a picture. Is it a single
space rack mount unit? Cause the mini limiter ain't, which is a bit
of a turn off for me.

Yes.

Its been a while. No I wasn't getting pumping. It just seemed like
something wasn't sounding right when I put a bass heavy signal through
it, just didn't sound the same coming out as it did going in. I didn't
find this with the MXR.

Here is one that sold recently on eBay. Picture isn't too good but you
can get the idea.
