We're looking to spec out a simple system where a soldier will be
immersed in a 3d VR simulation. Currently the soldier is connected to
a harness and fitted with a haptic feedback suit and a VR visor. He's
got a quarter inch plug in his sytem to plug in headphones and a mic.
I'm wondering if anyone has some suggestions for a good headphone or
in-ear system that may or may not contain a mic. Preferably something
small and something that attenuates outside noise well.
Any suggestions would be helpful.
thanks

Headphones-wise, I keep reading that the Extreme Isolation models attenuate
really well Review here:

A non-pro suggestion--Koss makes a cheap earbud style headphone. The
driver part has a tube about 2mm diameter by 10mm or so, surrounded
with a spongy cover. I replaced the original cover with a yellow foam
earplug (with a hole poked for the driver-tube), and wound up with very
good attenuation of outside sounds.
I called these Edphones. If you knew the Ed in question, and had to
concentrate on something besides Ed when he was in the room, you'd
understand.
