They make stand adapters specifically for this purpose. Look in Interstate
Music or some similar catalog. I'd much rather deal with a stand adapter
than trying to position a mic with duct tape.

I usually have an AKG 408 clipped to the snare stand; it's more elegant than
using duct tape. And I've found that even though I record the track, I
seldom use it in the mix...
