"STEVE O'ROURKE'S FUNERAL / PINK FLOYD REUNITE: The funeral service for
Steve O'Rourke, who sadly passed away on 30th October in Miami, Florida,
was held today at Chichester Cathedral in Sussex, England.

As part of the service, David, Roger, Richard and Nick put aside any
differences, got back together as a band, and performed in tribute to
the man who helped shape their career.

It is believed that they performed Fat Old Sun and Great Gig In The Sky,
and that Dick Parry played the saxophone whilst following the coffin. A
very fitting, and moving, tribute. Our thanks to David and Simon for
this information."

--

"Steve O'Rourke became manager of Pink Floyd in 1968 when he was working
for the Bryan Morrison Agency, after the band ceased to use the services
of Peter Jenner and Andrew King. Steve was the manager of the band from
then on, and also individually managed David Gilmour, Nick Mason and
Rick Wright."

What do YOU think? Anyway-it was after Barrett's tenure-he probably never met
the guy.

I thought the obit said '68 .

Syd left in '68, but some of the other guys played on his solo albums
Barrett, Madcap Laughs, and even the Opal sessions that weren't released
til way later.

The last recording Syd did was playing guitar on some Kevin Ayres album in
'73 or so.

Barrett was out by 1968. It became official in March of '68 but he had stopped
performing before then.

I would have loved to seen that performance. I wonder if this could lead
to anything more in the future. The fans are still out there. Todd F.

Todd, it seems that the news was premature and the story is changing. I
thought this was too good to be true :(

STEVE O'ROURKE'S FUNERAL UPDATE: Our friend Col over at our new sister
site, A Fleeting Glimpse, has just contacted us with an update on
attendance at Steve O'Rourke's funeral on Friday. It seems that Roger
Waters did not even attend the funeral but his Manager Mark Fenwick was
thought to have been in attendance. Fat Old Sun was in fact performed by
David Gilmour and for Great Gig In The Sky he was joined by Nick and
Richard. As noted below, we are hoping for confirmation from Mark
Fenwick when he returns to the office...
