I have very low end barebones speakers on my pc. Can anyone offer any
recommendations for good but reasonably priced pc speakers (between
$50-$100)? I'm not looking for super high end, I just want to be able to
listen to audio files and not have to guess what it will sound like when I
burn it to a CD.
Thanks in advance for any help

Look at Cambridge Soundworks. Their PC speakers are a value. And have a
30 day money back guarantee.

I have one word to say to you... Are you listening?
Monsoon.

Computer speakers in that price range don't get "recommended," they
just get bought. There's nothing special, no standouts, and they
change on the dealer's shelf every two weeks. Just go to a store,
listen, and if you like it, buy it.
There are brand names that mean a little more than "JBL" and "Altec"
(which for the most part are the same junk as everything else when it
comes to PC speakers). Boston Acoustics, KLH, and Cambridge (any
surprise that at least the names and original companies are related?)
may be different enough from the run-of-the-mill that it's worth
looking for a store that carries them.
If you up the ante by a few hundred bucks, you can go for the lower
priced Alesis or NHT powered speakers, but for $50-100 you get junk
that looks nicer than for $0-25.

Absolutely Monsoon. Surprisingly good for PC speakers and better than many
that come with non-PC systems.

I love my Monsoon 1000 system, within its limits and parameters. I can't
write a blank check for everything under the brand name, but some of it is
very good.
