Hey peoples.

I was going through my dad's old vinyl collection the other day and scored
some amazing sample records published in 1971. They're "Produced Exclusively
for Realistic by Audio Fidelity Records" and i have the records numbered
50-2017 and 50-2018.

I'm a 20 year old amateur engineer working on some experimental type music
with musician friends of mine so this was such a great score! I pop out the
records to take a listen and they sound great (and look as if they'd never
been used). Unter the technical data information on the back it says that
all samples were recorded with Telefunken, RCA and EV mics into an Ampex
Tape recorder 350-2. The record has everything from Ocean Liner Blasts, to
DC7's taking off, to pin ball machines, to heartbeats, water pouring into
buckets, birds, IBM typewriter, Helicopters, fencing lessons (?), BOINGS....
and the list goes on totally 100.

Anyway i was also wondering if there were any other sample records like this
made in this "Realistic" series? or others for that matter.

Do not believe all the liner notes. Some of that stuff must be taken with
a grain of salt.

Audio Fidelity made a whole series of these things, and if you like this
stuff, you will also like the material on the Command label as well. When
stereo was shiny and new, there were a lot of folks out there making stereo
demonstration records of various sorts.

And everybody HAS to have the ping-pong games and the trains.

Radio Shack wasn't the only folks rebadging these either... most of the
stereo equipment manufacturers resold them. Look for stereo spectacular
recordings sold by Korvette's, Altec, Westinghouse, and Sears also.

My dad had one with a airplane flyby's, some firing machine guns. I seem to
remember a P51 and a Sopwith Camel (I remember that because I had read some
of the 'Biggles' books around then...) in addition to the trains. Oh, and a
cafeteria...

Yah I remember some of those.

Anybody remember "around the world in stereo" with the game of
RUssian ROulette?

STill liked that one when the accented voice says, "good you loose,"
and the voice that sounds American says "YOu think we could make that
two out of three?"

IF you're really into this stuff look at some of the modern sound
effects libraries out there.
