Any suggestions or links to an easy to use decent sounding software
based drum machine with some patterns or loops.TIA

Great loops here... www.smartloops.com which you can use in lots of
different programs.

Really simple (but read the tutorial) and free/share is LeafDrums 2.
Much more robust/hard/$ stuff out there, but this is very easy to use.
also, i downloaded the entire NSKit free drum samples and many of
them, especially the cymbals, are very useful. Search for these and
you'll find them.
