seller: "Buddy wambo" aka

I'm the studio manager of the historic RCA Studio B in Nashville for
the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum, which operates it in
partnership with Belmont University. I noticed this auction, and
noted the incorrect statements and claims. I emailed the seller &
informed him of his misstatements. I did not recieve a reply, nor was
the auction text changed. Since the seller is using the studio I
manage to sell his product without the permission of the owners &
operators, I feel obligated to point out the shortcomings in his text
to any potential buyers.

His text with my comments...

"This auction is for a vintage Ampex speaker box from the famous
Studio B."
--No, the cabinet was never used in Studio B. It was given to me
earlier this year, but it was not original to the building. After
testing it & opening it up, I determined that it was unusable.

"I picked the cabinet up from a gentleman who claimed he pulled it out
of a pile behind the studio."
--This "gentleman" pulled it out of my dumpster, which I don't have a
problem with. But any potential buyers should know from where it was
retrieved.

"The cabinet is actually in the good condition. It does have some
knicks and scratches but it does come with the original screws that
hold the gill on."
--Yes, it is an old box with an 8" hole, old grillcloth & screws, rack
rails, and binding posts that was yanked from a dumpster.

"The cab held and 8" JBL speaker which I have available in another
auction. The cabinet is sold as is."
--The 8" speaker was not a JBL as I recall, but it the back of it was
covered with some kind of corrosive white powder which emitted a
vicous stink. The speaker did pass signal, but after seeing it's
condition it was not worth spending any more time on.

After comparing your background information with the auction text, I didn't
really see any false advertising. The auction text said it was a speaker
cabinet that a guy said he scrounged from behind the studio. Doesn't
actually say that it had ever been used there. You yourself confirm that
it was indeed discarded behind Studio B. Probably a mistake about what
kind of speaker might have been in it.

As intriguing as trash from behind famous places might be, apparently
nobody has yet offered the minimum $199.99 bid.

Heh.

It's just a bunch of plywood with some rack ears.

How anyone would think they'd get $200 for this is beyond me.

I'm sure you can pick up half that stuff at Radioshack.
