View Full Version : Bypass VS 2480 Preamps?

Feeling like a dope here, but I don't see in my Roland user's manual
how to bypass the VS 2480 internal pre's. I do happen to have an old
manual which I believe has been updated recently. Should still be
something in there though.

Anybody done this?

Thanks.

The pres aren't all that intrusive if they're set to line level, so you
can "bypass" them all by using outboard pres. At that point, you're
dealing with the A/D converter. If you want to bypass those, and if you
only need two (stereo) inputs, use the S/PDIF.

Why should they tell you that in their manual? They're probably pretty
darn proud of those preamps, no matter what they are.

Does it have insert jacks on the channels with mic preamps? If so,
plug your outboard preamp or line level signal into the insert return.
If it doesn't have insert jacks, you probalby have to get out your
tools (and throw away your warranty if there's anything left of it).
