Just had a recommendation for this gear, specifically Mipro 801 wireless
system.
This is not a brand I am familiar with. Does anyone have experience with
this brand and the model number specified?

Not particularly that model, but had some experience with the brand... do a
google group search on rec.audio.pro on 'Mipro' for my comments.
What's your application?

We just started dealing with the brand and did an install a few weeks ago.
I might be going back Monday for a follow-up and could give you a better
report of the sound quality then. I believe they have the 801. I would
personally stick to the condenser model, that is, not the 801D. The Mipro
is not as heavy duty as the Shure line, but if you do not expect rough
handling then the Mipro is a good option. For the price of the 801 you can
only get a VHF Shure and all the VHF problems.

and what are the "vhf" problems?
a crappy radio is a crappy radio is a crappy radio there is no magic just
beacuse it is a UHF frequency
and no inhearent liability just beacuse it uses VHF technology
if you buy a quality unit I doubt you would ever have reason to question
what band it uses
buy a cheesy design and the fact it is UHF will not make it work

Small church. Been recommended that as alternative to plastic AKG stuff
that breaks easily.
