It seems the tascam forums are down (or moved where i cant find) so
I'll beg for help from the Pros here. Im also trying the mackie
forums

I have an HDR and DM-24 set up and am having trouble recording more
than channel at a time. I just procured the DM-24 and DIO8 cards and
Ive had the HDR for a couple years. All hardware updated to latest.

What happens is:
When I arm a single track and record 1 input at time I have no
problems and everything works great. When I arm 2 tracks I
begin to get crackles and pops... when I push the record I get a
complete static sounding microphone. When I arm 3 tracks I get
a wall of white noise which is sending very loud signals (clip)
to the armed tracks.

This problem is independent of any Mic/Line inputs I choose,
although some channels are generating more static than others.

Like I say, the DM-24 is new to me as are the DIO8 cards.... any help
would be greatly appreciated.... personal emails would be great too,
if any advice is available.

They're down, and there's a good chance that they'll stay down. The
new General Manager is running things differently and with the
personnel cuts, there just isn't time for them to keep up with it.
Unlike the Mackie forum, the TASCAM product specialists took an active
part in their forum and that make it what it was. If they don't have
time to participate, I guess they decided to let it rest.

I saw your post on the Mackie forum. You have a classic symptom of no
or improper word clock synchronization. Do you have the word clocks
between the recorder and console conected together? You need to either
connect the word clock output of the HDR to the word clock input of
the DM-24, and set the DM-24 to sync to external word clock, or
connect the word clock output of the DM-24 to the word clock input on
the HDR and set the HDR for external word clock (BNC) sync. Either way
should work but it's easier to tell you how to set up the HDR (I just
did). If you're feeding the HDR word clock from the DM-24, push the
Termination button IN on the HDR.

Your pops should be gone.
