View Full Version : 2016 Grammy Awards Highlights

February 16th 16, 10:49 AM
You'd think Adele would have carried the
whole show away last night, but "25" was
just outside the eligibility window, releases
in 2015 Nov. It will definitely figure
prominently at 2017's Awards.

2016 Album of Year: "1989" - Taylor Swift

2016 Song: "Thinking Out Loud" - Ed Sheeran

2016 "Best Engineered".... "Sound & Color" -
Alabama Shakes

http://dr.loudness-war.info/album/list?artist=alabama+shakes&album=sound+%26+color

With a whopping average dynamic range of 5!!!
Loudness war over my ASS. And none other
than Bob Ludwig's name is on it.

Here is the most 'dynamic' track from it:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Ub6XFO0ca5Q

I guess this is what the nominating committee
considers a good sounding album nowadays??

I'll take the 2014 Engineered winner over
this mess any day! Much better sounding,
Bob.

My favorite performance of the whole night:

Thanks Glenn for all the memories!

I doubt whether anyone on the nominating committee measures headroom
or stares at a display on a computer screen to make their decisions.

They probably actually listen; something you show no sign of ever
doing. They're not obsessed with your hobbyhorses. They're not as
****ing moronic as you are.

ALBDF? KJHF!

This is pretty much correct for the nominating committee, and it's the
reason why people feel really good about receiving a nomination. On the
other hand, the voters represent many different areas of the music
business and often votes are cast based on perceived popularity rather
than merit.

You may be right, but do you really think that you can make valid audio
judgements based on Youtubed audio ?!!!

I was making no claims about the YT
source. But that was the most dynamic
track on that album acc. to DR Database.

I'll bet that not a single Grammy voter based their votes on headroom
numbers from some online database. Only a dumb **** would do that.

Ludwig is worthless. He must pay to gain Grammys.

Don't do that. Look what it earned me - a
leach that follows me all over Usenet.
While some Mastering Engineers have
a somewhat heavy hand when it comes to
final processing on clients' projects, the
majority of engineers will do the bidding
of their clients, however lacking in
knowledge that bidding may be.

Why are you stalking me, dumb ****? You don't know how this newfangled
Usenet thing works. You never will. You're not capable of
understanding.

FYI - 'leach' is a verb. "Leech" is a noun which can also be used as a
verb with or without an object.

I like that!! I'd like to know why Joel Whitburn makes a lot of mistakes in his (song charting) book, even with a "Research" staff. In Joel's books, it is funny to watch all the applause (endorsements) disappear by male radio hosts when females began to migrating into radio.

You mean your potty-mouth diatribes, or your constant proof that you
don't know what you're talking about? You seem to think that those are
the subject matter. BTPTBYCS. BYADF.

Do what? Look, Dorsey replies to you, shies away from me. Same with None. Not sure why I have to worry about anything, other than Bernie Sanders becoming the next US President. Chill.

Oh, and Bob Ludwig's only nice accomplishment was on vinyl, putting the maximum amount on it. Maybe Grammy is becoming desperate.

Sometimes certain things would be better on a leash, though...
