My brother is looking for a good preamp, with eq/phono/tuner/line inputs, for
his Carvin DCA-300 plus some small speakers Anybody have any recommendations?

Thanks

This isn't really the right newsgroup for recommendations. First off,
mostly the discussion here is about recording and a bit about live
sound. Second, when there are plenty of reasonable "receivers" that
you'll find at places like Best Buy, a preamp (without a power
amplifier) has pretty much been banished to the audiophile world or
e-Bay, so you might look for recommendations there. Don't be ashamed to
name a budget amount, otherwise you'll suggestions for units costing
thousands of dollars. Adcom is a good brand. Maybe you can find a used
one of their several models for a couple of hundred bucks.

You'd do better to ask on rec.audio.high-end.

There used to be a lot of good consumer preamps out there, but with the
explosion in home theatre multichannel stuff, there are fewer and fewer.
He might look at a used Adcom.

The hard part is also the phono input... a lot of the phono stages out there
don't actually come very close to the RIAA curves. It's pretty shameful.
