Whatever you do, do not install this piece of ****!!!

It seemed like good freeware option, but it is not. It crapped out audio for
whole PC. Now, some audio apps take ages to open, some freeze on opening ...
Even my video editing app, Corel freeware open just fine, I can play and edit
picture, but as soon as I click on audio file everything freezes.

I've searched the internet and seems ****ty app is made so to take control over
the soundcard and and drivers and not let it go, ever.

Even if it is solvable, I don't give a ****, it should not be made that way. I've
alredy lost 2 precious hours solving this.

It's not freeware, it's a free (and somewhat limited but not crippled)
version of a commercial program. I have a copy of Studio One Free
installed on three computers running Windows XP, along with several
other audio programs, and have never experienced anything like what
you're describing. I can use any one of several interfaces with Studio
One and other programs with no problems.

Maybe you aren't selecting the proper driver in Studio One. Because this
is the program that PreSonus includes with their own interfaces, it
assumes that's what you're using it with, and you need to do a little
looking to find the Audio Setup and choose the hardware that you're
using it with. That being said, I'm sure that someplace in the universe
there's a hardware driver that's incompatible with Studio One and gets
things confused across the board. I'm using it with Focusrite, Lynx,
Cymatic, Prism, ASIO4ALL, and the generic Windows driver for the
computer's built in sound card.

TWO "PRECIOUS" HOURS? Sheesh! I've lost fifteen precious years in the
process of getting accustomed to using computers and software for
recording. Studio Live is a very capable program, but it doesn't work
quite like other DAWs. If you want a more conventional DAW program
that's inexpensive to purchase and free to try, look at Reaper.

Crap works just fine, problem is, other apps stopped working ever since.

Go back to a system restore point before PS1 was installed.

Then you should figure out why. It's only rocket science. You can do it.
Since I've never experienced that problem, I don't have any suggestions,
but I'm sure that if you were willing to put some effort into it, you
could resolve the problem. You might get some help from other users on
the PreSonus users forum, though you get no free tech support from the
company since you didn't buy anything from them.

I never have this problem with my Ampex.

You mean it does this on all or most installs for anybody, or just in
your particular computer ?

Yeah but it's a bugger to cart around on your laptop, and splicing gets
a bit tricky in the bus.

Not mine. But then I don't expect anything involving a computer to work,
and I'm pleasantly surprised when it does.

They have a ton of discontinued products. Fly by night. I'd drop 'em
like a bad habit!

It does for your and for mine, the only 2 PCs I had on hand for testing.
