View Full Version : Digital Recording Problems to ADAT from D8B

I've recently became a d8b owner and have spent the last two weeks
learning how to use it. Generally I can say that I'm happy with the
overall operation. I did fall into the nasty little learning trap
regarding using DIO-8 cards and ADAT's and have changed all the cards
to OPT-8 and added an Apogee Word Clock. Everything seemed to be
working fine untill my first actual recording session with the board.

After setting up for 9 channels to be recorded from the d8b to adat I
planned to use the optical connection to track to the adats.
Everything seemed to be working fine until I started arming tracks.
After the 5th or 6th track was armed, all the inputs on my adat acted
as if they were all summed together. As I started to disarm tracks the
problem seemed to go away but came back again as soon as I started
arming tracks again. I double checked my digital sends and re-started
all my adats and BRC. I wasn't able find any reason for the problem.
At this point in time, I don't know if the problem is an operating
system problem (version 3.0) or a bad OPT-8 card or ???

I was able to record my tracks to adat by taping off the channel
inserts into the analog side the adats. The play back works fine both
digitally and analog so I was able to get through the session.

I wanted to ask if anybody has seen this problem before and might be
able to point me in a good direction to look before I start a search
and destroy mission.

I appreciate any advice, Thanks in advance.
