Just for grins I'd like to run a 2 channel mixdown from my Allen and
Heath ZED R12 mixing board through my LynxTWO card convertors into my
DAW. The R16 has two 8 channel ADAT optical lightpipe outs and the
LynxTWO has two AES/EBU XLR ins. Is this possible with some kind of
magic cable/box I can buy or make?

Thanks,

It's unlikely that you will be able to make something that does this,
but there are, or at least used to be, magic boxes that will do this.
M-Audio, maybe while they were still under the original name of Midiman,
made something I believe called SAM, which would allow you to select
which of the two Lightpipe channels comes out of the AES (or maybe it
was S/PDIF) output. You might be able to find one on eBay.

I can't remember for sure, but does the ZED-R16 allow you to assign the
L/R mix, or even a pair of subgroups, to a pair of ADAT channels? My
recollection (it's been several years since I had one here) is that the
digital output options were pretty restricted.

Or you could get an L-Slot card for your Lynx Two that will add ADAT I/O
to its capabilities.

Thanks much, Mike. Lynx offers the LS-ADAT card as a daughter card to
the LynxTWO, just what I needed.
