View Full Version : Wiring of Power Cable

My only gripe about the new RME QuadMic: The power connector is too short
on all of the different cables. I found the male connector at Radio Shack
and was getting ready to replace the stubby stock connectors when I noticed
that the cable seems to have a shielding around the main inner wire. There
are two posts on my connector and four different conductors (including the
shields) on the cable. Is that for a ground? The cable I'm referring to is
the one that connects to a battery. The AC cable that plugs into the wall
doesn't have a ground so I'm confused as to what the shield is for. Should
I just cut it off and use the main conductor?

If your bought your RME in the US, then call http://www.xvisionaudio.com/ ,
at least to find out how you are going to void your warranty. They might
have some tips also.
Good luck,
Tom
