View Full Version : Just Switched from Firefox to Chrome...

....Wow, what a difference.
Much faster browsing, at least so far.
Not sure why Firefox wasn't working for me anymore. Way to
slow, and would often "no respond", so would have to be closed.
Perhaps adware or spyware?
I hope Chrome stays clean and fast, but we will see....

Yes, the latest firefox is a disappointment.
OTOH, isn't google one of the "captains of spying", shifting through your searches
and gmail (and other g-miscellaneous) content to target ads? (Having their robots
shift through your overall browser activity would certainly add to their other
"pipes" into your privacy.
What does chrome say about privacy policies?

Google, like Microsoft, is the 900 lb gorilla in this arena. When I moved
from IE to Firefox, I felt less vulnerable to rascals. The Mozilla
Foundation is a non-profit organization that promotes openness, innovation
and participation on the Internet. Also, I use Mozilla Thunderbird for my
email.

Chrome is a superlative browser, and has the corner
on usage share around the globe:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usage_share_of_web_browsers
This is impressive, since windows users, surely the
most common users, have to go get Chrome when IE is
already there.
As a web developer, I really enjoy Chrome's dev tools
as well.

Chrome is the archetype of spyware. Be sure to install as a minimum
Adblock Plus. Then Ghostery to put a stop to tracking scripts.
And of course avoid Google+ like the plague.

There appears to be Adblock Plus, and Adblock, which
are not related:

Which one is the better software extension for Chrome?

Adblock Plus is the one to go for.

For the most of it I use IE with Chrome being 2nd and Opera 3rd.
I have nothing to hide, I want them to hear what I have to say.

I give some of my music for free, together with video clips, on Youtube.
I have them monetized, though. Just like listening and watching, sharing,
subscribing as well as clicking on pop up ads, is also free and it does help
independent artists who do not want to get into machinery.

For security reasons? I find the environment much more pleasant and open than
Facebook.
On the other hand, last month I was banned from G+ for 2 weeks for
violating ...something ... I don't know what, and they would not tell me. All
the info I got was the link to their "rules" page. I could not find my self
in any of possible "wrongdoings". I've heard if someone report you for anything, they react promptly, without any checking or listening to the other side.

Wow, that DOES make a difference!
No more lame ads that scroll across the screen to get your attention.
And I especially like the ad counter that shows you exactly
how many ads are being blocked for the current website.
Good tip. Thanks.
