What is your intention? Natural sounding headphones?
Then I guess the Beats are the wrong ones.

Right, but he did say "good bass headphones", so presumably natural sounding
is NOT a requirement, especially if he is looking at those.

Trevor.

What for?

Since you can't really experience low frequencies with headphones (much of the
real bass experience is from touch rather than hearing), these headphones have
enormous artificial bass boost somewhere in the region of the thud to try and
trick you into thinking you're hearing real bass. And what you hear on these
phones is going to be a lot of thud... the drop isn't going to be there.

I find that very very annoying and if it were me I would pick a headphone
without the exaggerated top and bottom end. But that said, I would pick
the one that feels more comfortable on your head of the two.

You appear to need a good audiologist and - if your spamming venture pays
well - a good tax advisor.

Bass headhphones are okay for the downmarket segment. Others prefer
trout.

Ok, all you hotshot, fish-fetishist wordsmiths who derailed the poor guy's
thread, what's noteworthy about the following statement?

"Doc, note, I dissent. A fast never prevents a fatness. I diet on cod.

"Beats Solo" sounds a pretty appropriate turn of phrase ....

On reflection, punctuation and capitalization seem to have

Yes, it might have been retro-perfect If, say, I'd dictated it to the 15 year
old kid next door, to text through from his smartphone.

But I retained the punctuation out of respect for the original source. I'm too
dim to think up that line by myself, and I didn't want to come across as
trawling for admiration...or to snag any bottom feeders attracted to this
headphone thread.

That comment was out of plaice. Would have been appropriate if OP lived in

The post looks as made to advertize the dr. dres' and yes, I think that
people who want extreme amounts of bass need to visit an audiologist because
there may be a problem with the middle ear or eustachian tube or both. And,
if they do not have one, they can get one from extreme amounts of bass
damaging the joint between stirrup and anvil.

Kind regards

I find MDR-7506 give the impression of my trousers flapping, sounds/feels
like deep bass. Is this a huge bass hump, or some other effect.

But the ears being shredded by stinging high-mf wasps is another thing
entirely....

That's the way a lot of people I know like their sound to be, judging by
the way they set the tone controls on the stereo systems..

The newer MDR-7510's are a lot less fatiguing, and are intended by Sony to be
a replacement for the 7506's (which I think have not changed in the line for
more than 20 years).

Yes, but it is _nothing_ compared with the boost on the "Beats" headphones.

That's actually why I like the 7506. The way exaggerated top end makes it
easy to hear tape hiss, bad edits, squeaky chairs, etc. They are great for
editing work.

I agree with Scott about MDR-7506's. The sizzle up top helps me hear undesirable artifacts in edits, etc., gets painful after a while. I don't find the low end of the 7506's to be accurate, but not in a "too much" way. I tend to let drummers use mine these days. They like the sizzle. I have Audio Technica M-50's. Read nice things about them, famous engineers use them, blah, blah, blah. I give them to bass players who are having trouble hearing themselves. My favorites are no longer made, I don't think - Sennheiser HD 580's. I have one singer who I let use them, but I generally keep them to myself - I love them and don't want to have to replace them. Discovered them mastering with Bill Wolf - he was monitoring on Genelecs at the time, had HD-580's sitting next to the couch I was sitting on. I put them on and thought I was still hearing the Genelecs. Took 'em off. Listened to the Genelecs, put them back on, darned near the same sound. I would never mix on headphones, but if you put a gun to my head and forced me, I'd want my HD-580's.

That, and monitor for drummers, is the only thing I use them for, I've
standardised on the ATH-M50s, and flicked all my AKGs.

anyone know this website: http://www.dreheadphones.co.uk/
it has good price.

If you really want to buy a good QUALITY pair of headphones then you should
be looking at Sennhiezer headphones (my spelling might be a little off). Go
to an audio store and try out a few pairs in your price range.
