Yep, after having many bands over the years I know this article to be
absolutely true. In fact I had this manager call me up once when I was
green between the ears and she said do you all dance? I said no, we are
a band. She said but do you dance? I said no you are talking to the
wrong guy; I have a a band and we are not some kind of dance troupe.

She then said I know that but when you play, do you jump around and
dance a lot and I said oh yeah we do that. She then said that was the
only type of band she wanted to manage because that was what sold
audiences and made her money.

Correction. She was with a popular music *agency* and didn't want to
manage the band but *book* it. My coffee hadn't kicked in and Peet's
coffee is by far the best. For the record anyway!!!

Interesting stuff. I've found my own critical listening abilities are
much improved if I keep my eyes closed. ie no visual input.

I'm a piano tuner by trade, and I find myself closing my eyes when zooming
in on my target.
And if Mrs. Kishnevitz is baking some killer cookies, the smell sense starts
to take precedence over my hearing ;)

I close my eyes when singing a lot...mostly in the studio. Like you said, it helps me hear to have no competing visual input. My 11 year old daughter is starting to sing and I have fund that her performances in the studio are also improved by closing her eyes.....it probably tunes out her anxious father that wants her to be perfect.
