I want to make a number of 1/4" TRS to 1/4" TRS patch cables, each six to ten
feet long. My supply of Belden 8442 is exhausted. Plus, it's expensive and bulky
for the application. Other than elaborate cable, like StarQuad, what do you
recommend?

Do you have any problems with REAN NYS228 connectors versus Switchcraft 291
connectors?

I hope you mean 8422.

If that's too bulky, try 8413 which is the same construction but 24 ga.
Or Mogami W2791 which is more or less the same thing.

Never used them, but if you buy Switchcraft connectors from Markertek
instead of the industrial electronics places, they are reasonably-priced.

No, I meant 8441, not 8442. At least that's what I think I meant. The last
hundred feet or so I had was not on the original reel.

Every time I check Markertek's prices, they don't seem any better than anyone
else's. You guys must have wholesale or preferred customer pricing with them.

What I would REALLY like to find is more of those funky cables you sent me a
couple of years ago with the DIN connectors. They are excellent audio cables.

I like Gotham cable. It's a lot easier to prep for soldering than Star-Quad, and it's nice and flexible. Just make sure the mechanical mounting is solid -- clamp the cable in place after soldering..

Peace,
