View Full Version : ART mixer problem

Does anyone know where I can get an ART 16 ch. mixer repaired? ART no
longer works on them. Even though they manufactured it, they will not
even look at it to see what is wrong because they no longer stock
parts? I am looking to buy a Mackie 1604 if anyone knows where I can
get the best deal. If ART's response to my problem with the mixer is
any indication of how they do business with their other products, I
don't expect to ever buy anything else with their name on it.

what kind of problem are you haveing
at ART mixers were not very advanced or so complicated that most any audio
repair tech could not get to the root of your problem and fix it

Some of the line inputs (1-16) have stopped working and 17-24 are
dead. Sometimes there is a little breaking up on the mic inputs but
they're not dead all the time. I have loud popping when recording in
my the Tascas tape deck but it is random and inconsistent, haven't
noticed it through the PA system. I only use the mixer for live sound
and 1-16 are full most of the time. The mix is good as long as I can
get all the inputs arranged so that everything is working. Last week
we set up in a new place and one of the monitor sends has quit so I
pushed button that switched it from #1 to #3 and it worked. I think it
is dying a slow death.

You desk has reached the end of its life
some contact cleaner may pospone death a few months
but the ART were not the best built desks and the fact the factory will
not support it anymore does not bode well for keeping it
you do not have as much a specific broken part as much as you have general
wear and tear
get 100 $ out of from some kid who will use it as a practice pa mixer in his
basement and move on
I have some nice 3242 Behringers(16 ch 4 band eq with sweep mids built in
efx 4 subgroups plus another 16 channel "B" mix" up to 5 pre fade monitor
sends) I could sell cheap,(400$) one with just one show on it
George
I am committing to the yamaha DM1000 and will not need these any longer

Sounds like broken solder joints on the pc board. This happens all the time on
inexpensive modern equipment.
Roland and other manufacturers led the way in this design.
Quite easy to fix yourself with a little patience and a soldering iron.
