I apologize if this is a duplicate post, but I didn't see my last one on this
topic, so I'm resending it....
I had just asked about the heat from tube mics affecting the diaphragm,
specifically on the Soundelux U99. I wondered if recording with the mic
upside-down is necessary for proper heat disappation.
Thanks.

I'd think that heat would be a GOOD thing and would keep the moisture out
of the capsule.
Okay, maybe on a PVC diaphragm mike, it might be a problem because it would
make the aging effects worse, but thank God we don't have to deal with that
much any more.

The heat produced by the U99's tube is minimal, go ahead and use the
mic in any position you desire.

You don't want the diaphram subjected to repeated temperature changes, so
upside-down is the way to go for all tube mics.

IF THE MIC IS GENERATING SIGNIFICANT HEAT, LIKE AN ORIGINAL U47, YES.
IN A U99, IT'S NOT AN ISSUE. THE TEMPERATURE CHANGES THAT OCCUR AT THE
MEMBRANE OF A U99 ARE MORE DEPENDENT ON THE AMBIENT ROOM TEMPERATURE
THAN TUBE GENRATED HEAT.
