Pro tools free, aside from being 8 tracks is still the same as 4.7 software, If
I remember correctly.

No stereo tracks is one thing. But yes most RTAS plug ins work.

Quite similar, but....You can only do 8 mono tracks, and only two at a
time, no matter how many inputs your sound card has. RTAS plugins
will work.
