so i got my new replacements pads for my 10 year old sony 7506
headphones. you all were right they made all the difference. I
didn't realize how loose they were fitting with the deteriorated pads,
but with the new ones, they fit tight to the ears and now the bass
response is restored so they're no longer thin sounding. and the
added bonus is no more black flaky crap falling everywhere!

I just tracked a record in NY for a singer (i was producing and
playing guitar) and the studio had akg 240's i think for the tracking
phones. man they were so comfortable and sounded excellent. so i
think i might get a few of those at some point.

Excellent, good to hear.

And mine are now starting to get that bad... remind us: where did you finally find
the replacement pads?

Thanks,

I might shout myself some then - the rim-seams of the pads have come
unstuck. But now they don't look quite as much like an (_)*(_) as they used
to. Or is that just my warped mind ?
