I don't know if there is a better term for it, but I have been annoyed of
late by individuals who try to clap really loud in your microphones. There
will be some, usually sitting right up front, who think if applause shows
approval, then loud applause must show even more, so they don't just
applaud, they CLAP as loud as possible, even to call attention to
themselves. So you end up with these popping sounds in your track. I wonder
if you have encountered this phenom, and if you have edited it out or
something.

Audience members? Not too much of a problem since you can always
relocate the mics. Where it dives me nuts is the MC who insists on
clapping into his/her announce mic, with the effect that one pari of
hands is 20 times louder than any other. No much you can do about that
other than to educate the MC (good luck)

The worst one was when the dance company owner was sitting in the control
booth at the back of the auditorium, with me and my cameras and mikes. She
tried to outclap everyone in the house. Sounded like gunshots.

Nope. She was clapping out of phase - instead of "clap clap clap" it was
"palc palc palc." Can I equalize that?

Kidding, I'm a kidder.
